EDINBORO, Pa. - Dennis R. Frampton, for years one of Edinboro University's most ardent and committed supporters, has been named to the University's Council of Trustees.
Frampton, an Edinboro alumnus, was appointed to the position by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell. The appointment was recently confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate.
As a member of the University's governing body, Frampton will serve out the remaining unexpired term of former Trustee Joseph G. Cacchione, M.D., who recently resigned. At the conclusion of that term in January 2011, Frampton is expected to be appointed to a full term on the Council of Trustees.
"As an Edinboro graduate and a longtime supporter of this University, we're delighted to welcome Dennis as a trustee," said COT Chair Harold Shields. Shields pointed to Frampton's leadership efforts with the Edinboro University Foundation, in particular in helping to develop the $115 million Highlands at Edinboro University student housing complex.
"What we welcome most of all is Dennis' commitment to his alma mater and especially his independent thought," Shields added.
Frampton, a 1989 Edinboro graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Trades Leadership, is president of C&J Industries, a Crawford County plastics manufacturer and product design company specializing in complex, high-precision injection molded components and assemblies.
A member of the Edinboro University Foundation for more than a decade, serving four years as its chair, Frampton is the 2002 recipient of the Edinboro University Alumni Award of Excellence, a special 2008 Council of Trustees Award of Recognition, and in 2009 was honored with the Edinboro University Alumni Association's Distinguished Service Award.
"The governor's appointment to the Council of Trustees is truly an honor, and it will be a privilege to have the opportunity to work with President (Jeremy D.) Brown and the Council of Trustees," Frampton said. "It has been a pleasure working with the foundation these past 10 years, but now it's an opportunity to continue service at a different level to an institution that has not only been so very important in my life, but also in the lives of thousands of the sons and daughters of northwestern Pennsylvania."
Frampton said his goal is to work with President Brown and the Trustees toward the continued positive growth of the University, and also "to continue to improve upon the quality of our programs."
Frampton has been credited with helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Edinboro scholarships, and was instrumental in the establishment of Edinboro University's Meadville facility, the Joseph T. Buba Center.
In addition to his volunteer efforts on behalf of Edinboro University, Frampton has long been active in myriad Meadville and Crawford County civic organizations and philanthropic and service clubs.
